Not all paper shredder particles are created equal. Some produce larger particles and some produce very small particles. For most businesses a cross-cut paper shredder that produces a particle that falls into the category of DIN Level P-4 provides an adequate degree of security.
If shredding volume is significant enough to warrant an industrial shredder a slightly larger particle will allow for increased throughput. While this larger particle does not provide the same level of security, the shear volume of waste makes reconstructing a single document much more difficult providing an added degree of security.
For information deemed classified or top-secret by a Government Agency or branch of the Military a much smaller Level P-7 Shredder particle is required. intimus P-7 shredders produce a particle of 0.8mm x 4.5mm.
